Network Battle


You can play Network Battle mode by connecting 2 computers by either internet, local area network(LAN), modem, or serial cable. To play Network Battle mode, DirectX5 has to be installed.

In the Network Battle, the player waits for opponent is called "Host", and the player who connect to the host is called "Guest".


Connecting by Internet


Play the game with 2 computers connected to the internet. Both host and guest have to pay the provider and the telephone fee.

System Requirement
Telephone line, modem(for Windows95) or terminal adapter(TA). The computer has to be signed up for internet service provider (ISP) and able to connect the internet by dial-up access.

Setting up Internet
Please refer to the provider or the hardware manual for setting up.


How to play the Network Battle

Before starting the game, discuss about the following things with your opponents in advance.

  • Connecting method
  • Starting time
  • Which player will be the host

To Start the Battle

Launch the game and select Network Battle

Input the user name (for the first time only)


Select the communication type

Choose yes or no



Yes (host)


input session name

No (guest)

Check IP address

input IP address



Connected

Setting UP
Select your master, map, and time limit.

Start the battle
Click <READY/FIGHT>



Session Name

Name the session to distinguish from other hosts. You do not have to change the session name unless more than 2 hosts are set up in local-area network.


IP Address

The host has to let the guests know the IP address. IP address is like the postal system, it gives where in the internet the computer is located. The guest uses IP address to connect to the host. The host should never disconnect the internet after telling IP address to the guests. The IP address changes while it is given automatically by the provider at each connection.

  1. Connect to the internet
  2. Launch the game and select Network Battle. Click Yes after you select the communication type and play the game as the host. Go to menu bar, select System and click Address Information.
  3. Host's present IP address will be shown in the window


Saving and Loading the Game

Saving the Game Data

You can save the continue data during the Network Battle.
You also can surrender the battle by selecting Turn to Title or Turn to World Map during the battle.

  1. Select Turn to Title or Turn to World Map in System menu.
  2. Choose Save or Surrender.

Loading the Game Data

The person who saved the last data will be the host of the next battle.

  1. Launch the game and select Load Data.
  2. Click Yes.
  3. Select the save data and click OK. The data with N is the data from Network Battle.


Chatting with the Opponents

You can chat with your opponent in Network Battle mode.

Sending Messages

  1. Click the chat window or press F1 key.
  2. Type the message in Chat dialog box and click OK or press Enter.

Saving the Messages

You can record the messages in F2 - F8 key.

  1. Type the message in Chat Dialog Window.
  2. Click Save, select F2 - F8 and click OK

When the Chat Dialog Window is not appeared, the message will be sent to the opponent right after you press F2 - F8 key.

Connecting by local-area network(LAN)


Play the game with 2 computers connected by the local-area network.

System Requirement
Windows95 computers connected by LAN

Setting up the network
Playing Network Battle mode requires IPX/SPX compatible protocol.

  1. Right-click Network Computer, then select Property
  2. In the Networking tab, make sure IPX/SPX Compatible Protocol is in the list.

Connecting by Modems


Play the game with 2 computers connected by modems. Guest call Host for connection. Only the Guest have to pay the telephone fee.

System Requirement
Telephone circuit, 9600bps or faster modem(for Windows95) or modem connected to the analog port of TA.

Setting up

  1. Click Start, point to Settings and then click Control Panel.
  2. Click Modem. In Modem Property, make sure your modem is in the General tab.

Connecting by Cables


Play the game with 2 computers connected by serial cables.

System Requirement
Serial crossover cable. You can not play Network Battle with straight cable.

Setting up
Connect each serial port by serial crossover cable.
